As these two children were orphaned at a young age, Margaret's sister Dorothy Herr Burton and her husband, Pete Burton, took Polly in to their home and raised her. Gordon's Aunt Amy Howard of 110 S. Webster St., Jackson, made a home for Gordon until he went into U.S. service.
