Notes:
Frederick has an in-depth biography in the Chapman Bros. 1891 "Calhoun County Portrait and Biographical Album". His wife, Ann, is also mentioned here. For your reading ease, I've transcribed it on the link above.
Frederick arrived in America with most of his family as a young boy in 1852. Twelve years later, Frederick served under General Sherman during the Civil War. I have not yet confirmed that was present during Sherman's march through Georgia, but it is likely that he was witness to the burning of Atlanta. After the capture of Atlanta, a large number of soldiers were sent back to Nashville under the command of Major-General George Thomas. I am uncertain whether Frederick went to Nashville or continued with the "march to the sea".
I've since seen the area where his farm once stood. There is an overgrown barn on the property that may have been there previously. A very modern home sits back, probably on the site of the old farmhouse.
Frederick died of bronchitis in Eaton County. He was 82.
