According to his obituary, "At the age of three years the family moved to a farm in Sheridan township, eight miles northwest of Albion. He was married to Retta Kimball Feb. 22, 1890, living on the family farm until a short time after Mrs. Kimmer's death Jan 16, 1936, when he moved to Albion to make his home with his daughhter, Mrs. Warren (Naomi) Baker, 912 North Superior street. "For 40 consecutive years he served as a member of the Davis school district board near his farm home, and was highway commissioner for Sheridan township for 15 years. Mr. Kimmer was a member of Murat Lodge No. 14, F. and A. M., and the Three-Quarters-Century Club."
